When it comes to Zhang Boju, the park I often go to immediately comes to my mind.
I don't remember if it was last year or the year before, at the northeast corner of the intersection of Guangwu Avenue and Hubin Road in our Xiangcheng, where green trees are hidden. Suddenly, several dazzling red characters appeared: 'Zhang Boju Park'.
Trees and flowers are intertwined on both sides of the park gate. Surrounding the area is a vast expanse of lush green lawn, followed by a large square of several thousand square meters. At the northern end of the square is a towering stone mountain, with a large pool of fish at the foot of the mountain. A stream flows through the pool, and there is a wooden bridge over it. Walking on the bridge is truly like walking in a fairyland. In the middle of the square is the under construction "Zhang Boju Memorial Hall", which is said to showcase Mr. Zhang Ju's life, family history, and physical materials after completion.
When it comes to the life and family history of Grandpa Zhang Boju, I naturally think of the summer vacation when I visited the Forbidden City. The guide said that nearly half of the top calligraphy and painting in the Palace Museum were donated by Zhang Boju, and I was deeply surprised to hear this. Because I once read a story about Zhang Boju being kidnapped, and the kidnappers demanded 200 gold bars to redeem him. His wife had no money and could only think of selling paintings to raise money, but Zhang Boju said, "I can't move any of those paintings, even if I die, I can't sell them." However, no one expected that it was this grandfather who valued painting and calligraphy more than his life. Surprisingly, he donated his collection of top-notch paintings and calligraphy to the motherland for free.
He said that gold is easy to obtain, and there are no two national treasures! I didn't buy them to make money. But they are afraid of them drifting abroad.
Like Grandpa Zhang Boju's unwavering devotion to his motherland, his noble spirit and character are enough to transcend history, shine brightly, and warm the memories of our generations.
As a native of Xiangcheng, I am deeply proud! The more I learn about his deeds, the more shocked I feel. His patriotism also inspires me to study hard and repay my country and hometown in the future.
