When I was a child, I often thought to myself, what is true growth? This question gradually faded away with the passage of time, and because of that incident, it triggered my dusty memories.
I remember one day my mom said to me, 'You're grown up, you should sleep alone.' I hesitated a bit, but still nodded. I didn't expect the feeling of sleeping alone for the first time to be really terrifying. Turn off the lights, close the door, the whole room is pitch black. I don't know how I remembered the ghost stories my mother told me. Various monsters and demons seem to have appeared. I was scared and felt like there was someone under the bed, in the wardrobe, and behind the curtains. I was so scared that I quickly closed my eyes, but I still felt like there was someone in front of me! I immediately opened my eyes and found that there was actually nothing.
I tightly grasped a corner of the blanket and really wanted to shout for my mom to come over, but I felt like I shouldn't just shout for mom when I grew up. Then I thought of another sentence: "The best way to eliminate fear is to face it." I took a deep breath, and the night was quiet. The bright moonlight shone on the curtains, and the room also had a dim but soft light. I gradually became less afraid and felt a hint of drowsiness, and soon I fell into a deep sleep. The first ray of sunshine in the morning woke me up, and I rubbed my eyes. At this moment, I felt like I had truly grown up! Sleeping alone is an ordinary thing that every person must experience, and it cannot be any more ordinary. It is these countless ordinary things that make us grow. Growing up is not only about physical and age changes, but also about our inner and mental growth. What a long process it is to go from ignorance to understanding the truth! As I grow older, it doesn't mean I've grown up. Being taller doesn't mean I've grown up either. That night, I learned to be brave and independent, which is the true way to grow up.
