A puddle, with a few tadpoles happily playing with their tails in the water waves; A deep well, leaning down, one can hear the faint sound of water; Two tall trees, overflowing with the fragrance of Chinese toon in spring and reflecting persimmon red in autumn. When it comes to gardens, the most beautiful pleasures of childhood are all encompassed in the countryside in front and behind the house.
Tai Laolao's family is located in the countryside of Lantian, with a two-story small building, adobe walls, and wooden fences nailed together. The unrestrained wind and fragrant flowers and plants in the fields give this place a comfortable feeling of ancient seclusion. As a child, I spent several intermittent seasons here, which can be considered half of my homeland.
In spring, my uncle picked up a long hook and took me to pick the fragrant fragrant Chinese toon in front of the courtyard. As a child, I was already not tall, so I had to raise my neck hard to see the branches on that tall tree. Uncle smiled, tightly grasped the hook rod, lifted it up lightly, and then turned it again, and the Chinese toon fell down with the sound of its branches breaking. I also clamored to pick it, my small hand gripping the swaying bamboo pole with some weight. I looked up at one and tried my best to jump it down, but unfortunately, my clumsy and powerless hands couldn't control the direction of the pole. I couldn't reach the toon tree, but my uncle standing behind me laughed. Thinking about that hardworking little back, it must be funny and cute! Uncle reached for it with a hook, and I crouched down to busily pick it up, piled up like a small mountain with a full pot. After being prepared and placed on the table for several consecutive meals, the fresh fragrance of the fragrant Chinese toon made me eagerly wait for the sentence my grandmother shouted; It's time for dinner! ”。
In the summer days of cicadas chirping and frogs making noise, the stuffiness in the house often makes people restless and unable to calm down. I slipped out of the backyard and ran into the nearby forest. There are always many children gathering in piles to play games like bamboo dragonflies and eagles catching chicks. I occasionally join in until I run until I'm blushing, panting heavily, and sweating before returning home. Looking back on those carefree rural days, it was truly a luxury for the current tense city life, which is why many people envy us as children!
For me, the true arrival of autumn is the sweet persimmons and persimmon cakes. Since the end of August, the children have been looking forward to it. I would go to the entrance of the house every day to look at the persimmon tree full of fruits, and watch the small lanterns that were not fully lit hanging heavily on the branches, making people salivate. But if you are impatient and secretly pick unripe persimmons, a sour taste will spread in your mouth, which is the punishment given to you by the persimmons and the adults who repeatedly emphasize it. After an autumn rain, the persimmons inadvertently dyed themselves and changed their clothes. When they ate them, the sweetness filled the entire autumn. So in my heart, autumn without persimmons is dull and tasteless.
In winter, the cold weather makes me stay at home and not want to go anywhere, but I am really bored and idle, so I go to the water well behind me to find fun. There are two wooden stakes fixed to the well made of stones of different sizes, with a crossbeam erected on top and a rocking handle installed beside it. With a creaking sound, the wooden barrel tied to the rope swayed left and right and came up. When I lifted the barrel up, I found that the water was nowhere to be found. So for half a day, I stood by the well, holding the handle with my tired hand and shaking the wooden barrel up and down, enjoying it endlessly.
I, running in front of and behind the house, grew up. I don't have much leisure time to live there for long anymore. Occasionally, I go back and the yard and small building have changed a lot. I don't remember my old friends anymore, and the bamboo dragonfly doesn't play anymore. When I was young, I always looked forward to growing up. It was only when I grew up that I realized that the freedom and purity of my childhood in my hometown, and the group of small figures in front and behind the house, were my most beautiful sealed secrets.
