The Five Corridors of My Hometown

In May, what wakes up people in my hometown is not the alarm of their phones, not the voices of their elders, or even the early morning crowing of chickens. But rather a string of firecrackers coming from afar.

The Five Corridors "is the abbreviation for the Five Commercial Corridors. It is said that in my hometown, in ancient times, the economy was prosperous and trade was prevalent. There were a whole five commercial streets, which were a symbol of prosperity. Although it was not as glorious as before during the war, this custom, which was born to celebrate it, has been passed down to this day.

出自 wwW.zuoWEnBA.nEt

On the day of the Five Corridors, as the sky was just beginning to brighten, the elders in the family had to get up and prepare the offerings prepared the next day to offer to the Water Dragon King. After respectfully greeting the Dragon King with good morning, they could set off firecrackers, crackling with the flickering flames. This was to tell the neighbors: My house is ready, how about you? We need to tighten up a bit.

After completing a series of tasks, a good start was made for the day. People came out one after another from each household, all young and strong, carrying thick solid wood boards on their shoulders, to lay down the one and a half acres of land in front of their doorstep, which was considered as the scope of their shop. On the wooden board, they put their own grown fruits and vegetables, or caught clams from fishing in the dark at night, or something brand new but not needed by themselves. With a full board, the business can be started.

On this day, it is rare for children to get up without the urging of their parents. There is no complicated reason. The smell of all kinds of delicious food is mixed together, and the wind takes them from the street to the end of the alley. On the way, the bean flavor of tofu flower, the spicy soup with pepper, and the sweet and greasy Tomatoes on sticks flow into the children's dreams along the middle crack of each window. They wander in their dreams but can barely wake up at the moment they touch each other. So the children woke up eagerly, took their saved pocket money, and went to the street to search for their unfinished dreams.

People from other villages often exchange visits, and the most common scene is a person squatting on the ground, picking up and putting down the things they have picked up, speaking with an accent to make the vendor cheaper. When they see someone refuse, they elongate their tone and shout out a nice word to the vendor. Although the vendor says it's not good, they actually laugh uncontrollably, and finally soften their heart and step back to end it.

At the end of the day, Wulang is just an activity in some villages that have not yet been commercialized. It doesn't sell any high-end things, and everyone sits on the small horse ties on the street, shouting occasionally. It really can't compare to those modern, advanced, and famous commercial and food streets. But it is in those firecrackers and shouts that one can hear the hustle and bustle of the world; In the street vendors and children holding snacks gathered together, I saw the most simple smell of fireworks in the world.

The city is bustling but devoid of human voices.

There is no hustle and bustle in the countryside, but there are still human feelings.
