Nan Rendong is the father of the Chinese Eye of Heaven. He has been curious about the wonders of nature since childhood. When he was in elementary school, he loved watching stars very much. He dreamed of building a super telescope, and he worked hard towards his dream, eventually becoming a famous astronomer. Despite foreign companies extending olive branches, he remained unmoved and resolutely returned to China to devote himself to scientific research. He went deep into the mountains, searching for a suitable location for the celestial eye, for a total of 22 years. In 2016, he had already been diagnosed with lung cancer. Despite his body no longer being affected, he flew from Beijing to Guizhou to witness the construction and operation of the "Eye of Heaven" project. It was not until September 15, 2017, just 10 days before the "Chinese Eye of Heaven" was put into use, that he closed his eyes forever. He once said, "The beautiful universe, with its mystery and splendor, summons us to step through mediocrity and enter the boundless expanse.
