“叮铃铃……”下课了，小明和小红走在回家的路上。在这个美丽的下午，他们却被一股臭气吸引了过去。
“ Dingling Bell… … ” Class is over, Xiaoming and Xiaohong are walking home. On this beautiful afternoon, they were attracted by a foul odor.
“嗯？什么味道啊！”小明抱怨起来。

“好像是从那个垃圾桶那儿传来的，我们去看看吧。”小红和小明向着垃圾桶跑去。

他们跑到那里一看，这场景真是惨不忍睹：垃圾桶下面堆满了垃圾，有果皮、瓶子、饭盒等等，上面还飞舞着几只苍蝇。

“小明，怎么办？我们……要捡吗？”小红问。

“这些垃圾离垃圾桶都很近，如果……如果扔垃圾的人再走一步就可以扔进去了。”小明说。

他俩商量着：我们光捡也没有用，过不了多久，又会有一堆的。我们要提醒大家，把垃圾扔进垃圾桶里。

两人分好工，就开始动手了。小红负责捡垃圾，她毫不犹豫地弯下腰，将地上的垃圾一个个捡起来，扔进垃圾桶里。心里想着：我做的一切都是为了大家，如果我不捡，别人也不会捡的。
The two of them divided their work and started to work together. Xiaohong is responsible for picking up garbage. Without hesitation, she bent down and picked up the garbage on the ground one by one, throwing it into the trash can. 而小明呢？他也没闲着，他要在垃圾桶上写几个字来提醒大家。

旁边经过的人看见了，都觉得这两个孩子很奇怪，好的不做，偏偏来捡垃圾，不觉得脏吗？
People passing by thought these two children were strange when they saw them. They didn't do anything good, but instead came to pick up garbage. Don't they feel dirty?
路人的眼光他们根本不理睬，继续做自己的事情。等到都做完了，才让人们大吃一惊。地上干干净净，垃圾桶上贴了张纸，上面写了几个醒目的大字：文明—只差一步。路人们看到了，纷纷赞扬起来。
They ignored the gaze of passersby and continued to do their own thing. It wasn't until everything was done that people were surprised. The ground was clean and tidy, and a piece of paper was pasted on the trash can with several prominent characters written on it: Civilization‐ Just one step away. The passers-by saw it and praised it one after another.
文明只差一步，只要你向前一步，把垃圾扔进垃圾桶里，就能为世界的整洁出一份力。
