古时候有个孩子，父母双亡，经常受哥嫂虐待，每天被赶出家门放牛，人们就叫他牛郎。
In ancient times, there was a child who lost both parents and was often abused by his siblings. He was kicked out of the house every day to herd cattle, and people called him the Cowherd.
牛郎对那头老牛照顾的无微不至，他们相依为命，一年又一年，老牛开口说话，让他明天傍晚去湖边拿走一件粉色的衣服，牛郎照做，就这样遇到了织女，俩人相谈甚欢，织女本是外孙女，来人间玩耍，听说了牛郎的身世很同情对方，于是决定留在人间与牛郎结为夫妻。
The Cowherd took care of the old cow meticulously, and they depended on each other for survival. Year after year, the old cow spoke up and asked him to go to the lake tomorrow evening to take a pink dress. The Cowherd followed suit, and thus met the Weaver Girl. The two of them had a great conversation. The Weaver Girl was originally the granddaughter of the Cowherd and came to play among people. She heard about the Cowherd's background and sympathized with each other, so she decided to stay in the human world and marry him.
婚后，两人男耕女织，幸福美满，并育有一儿一女，王母娘娘得知后大发雷霆，亲自来到人间带回了织女，牛郎情急之下，披上牛皮、挑着孩子去追赶，王母娘娘确用玉簪划出一道天河，从此，两人隔河相望，他们就成了天河两边的牵牛星和织女星。
After marriage, the two of them worked happily and had a son and a daughter. Upon learning of this, the Queen Mother became furious and personally brought back the Weaver Girl. In a moment of desperation, the Cowherd put on cowhide and carried the child to chase after her. The Queen Mother used a jade hairpin to draw a Milky Way, and from then on, the two faced each other across the river, becoming the leading stars and weavers on both sides of the Milky Way.
织女思念丈夫和孩子，整日以泪洗面，王母娘娘也拗不过她，答应每年的七月初七跟牛郎见面。
The Weaver Girl misses her husband and children, and tears wash her face all day long. The Queen Mother cannot resist her and promises to meet the Cowherd on the seventh day of July every year.
每年的这一天，成群结队的喜鹊从四面八方赶来，在天河搭起鹊桥便于两人相会，这就是七夕节的来历。
On this day of every year, groups of magpies come from all directions to build a magpie bridge in Tianhe to facilitate their meeting. This is the origin of the Qixi Festival.
