During the May Day holiday, I came to the long-awaited Beijing and visited many famous scenic spots and historical sites. However, what impressed me the most was the world-famous ancient architectural wonder - the Great Wall.
After an hour's drive, I finally saw the magnificent Great Wall, which was like a giant dragon hovering in the undulating mountains.
This section of the Great Wall was built on Badaling Mountain. I stood at the foot of the mountain and looked up. The Great Wall was faintly visible, as if it had disappeared into the peaks, but it had left its climbing footprints on even further mountains. It was truly magnificent!
When I first started climbing the Great Wall, I felt very relaxed and found that it was not only majestic, but also tall and sturdy. I saw that the top of its city wall was covered with square bricks, flat and wide, and five or six horses could run parallel. It is said that the Great Wall was built to resist foreign invasion, no wonder it is so strong and winding.
Halfway through the climb, my relaxed energy was suddenly thrown into the clouds. My legs feel like they've been injected with lead, and every step I take makes me gasp for breath. My mother and I sat on the stone steps to rest. At this moment, I saw rows of battlements over two meters high along the outer edge of the city wall, with square observation and shooting ports above them, which should be used by soldiers for observation and shooting.
We continued to walk up the stone ladder. Looking ahead, the Great Wall is still long and cannot be seen at a glance. The higher you climb, the steeper it becomes, and every time you lift your foot, it takes a lot of effort. My mother encouraged me on the side, asking me to grab onto the armrest with both hands and push me along from behind. My mother told me: "The Great Wall is the first of the seven wonders of the world. It is said that astronauts can also take a picture of the Great Wall in space. It is amazing!" After listening to my mother's words, a sense of national pride came into being. I am proud of being a Chinese. I gathered my courage and struggled to climb up.
My mother and I walked and laughed, and finally climbed the "Hero Slope". At this moment, I seemed to hear the sound of war drums and see the smoke and fire of the battlefield. Looking down from Haohan Slope, on the top of the city wall, there is a square fortress every three hundred meters, which serves as a garrison for soldiers. During battles, the walls can complement each other. Do you all know? How much blood, sweat, and wisdom of the working people have condensed into this endless Great Wall that has no beginning and no end. On the Haohan Slope, there is Chairman Mao's vigorous and powerful inscription "Not a hero until you reach the Great Wall". This time, I also became a hero!
