July 12th is such a happy day for me because it is my annual birthday.
After school, I bounced back and forth on the small path home, calculating what kind of birthday gift my mother would give me? My mind came up with a scene from when I went shopping before: in a toy store, there was a very large Lego. My eyes and feet were fixed in that place, staring straight at every small part of Lego. My mother urged me to leave quickly, but I stayed in place as if I hadn't heard her. Mom said, "Do you want this big LEGO?" I nodded and said, "Yes, yes, I really, really like this big LEGO!" "I'll buy it for you next time on your birthday." Hearing this, I left the mall happily. Thinking of this, I quickened my pace to go home.
When I got home, I didn't have time to change into my slippers. I threw my backpack hard onto the sofa and rushed into the room. I found that there were no gifts on the table, only a greeting card that read "Finish all your homework, or you will be punished by standing in the hallway if you don't finish it. Seeing this, I couldn't help but think to myself, "What kind of birthday! What is a birthday? What's the use of celebrating a birthday? There are no gifts, no cake, only unfinished homework waiting for me. If I don't write, I'll be punished for standing
I am very angry. Other children have happy birthdays and gifts, why don't I have them? At that moment, my mother walked in from the living room and said to me with a smile, "Don't be angry, look at the line of text under the card." I picked up the card and looked carefully. There was a small line of text below the card that read, "The words on it were just a joke with you. I'll give you a big surprise when I come back!" I asked my mother, "What kind of surprise is it?" "What do you think this is?" I looked behind my mother and it was actually the Lego that I had been longing for. I jumped up happily and hugged my mother, saying, "Thank you, Mom
A gift is a surprise that my mother gave me.
